Real Names

As you've probably noticed, I don't like names on the blog. I try to never refer to anyone by a real name. When I need an identifier - I pick something that won't identify people.

It's fine for people to identify themselves, but naming others - I have a thing about it.

So please, in the comments don't?

I've deleted one comment today because of it. I'm not going to go through the archive of comments though.

It's not me being a nasty meanie.

Well, no more then usual...

I'm really annoyed that my post was deleted so will post it all over the archives and active posts if its deleted again.

For the record I never ever used any real life names, but have replaced the only names in my post with "something" as I had origionally assumed that they would have been okay to use.

For the record, Born Today could have reposted it without the "offensive" names so I can only assume that it was more the fact he was afraid of the comments/responses it might provoke!

There was more wit and humor in the origional post...
(next time will keep a copy of all posts so reposting is far easier)

I spoke with Born Today last night just before 7pm. I asked him if he would be logging on to "Game that cannot be named" that night as "Activity that cannot be named" had been cancelled due to snow. I wanted to know if we could finish questing in the area we had been doing together last month.

He said that tea was nearly ready and he would be on in an hour. So I logged on to "Game that cannot be named" and played for a couple of hours. At 10pm, I logged out as I was feeling tired and went to bed.

At 11pm I was woken up by a phonecall from Born Today to see if I was ready to do the joint quests.

Mannanan

I've said before I don't like real names being used. I didn't object to the content, but I do have a thing about things specific enough to identify people.

I've still got your original that I can repost for you if you want - I was just in a hurry at the time. Much work related fun here.

As to the content of your post...I apologize, I got seriously sidetracked. However, it wouldn't be the first time I've done it to you, or you've done it so me.

And it wasn't 11pm...

The (slightly rdited) comment in question.

---
St John Ambulance was cancelled due to the snow in England, so I asked *cough* if he wanted to do some questing after he had dinner. He said he was interested. So I logged on and played in an alternative location waiting for him to log in. 10pm comes along an there was still no sight of him so I decided to go to bed at a reasonable time as I was tired.

Along comes 11pm, and I get woken up by the phone ringing… I think to myself, it must be important for someone to call at this late an hour. Only to find someone is calling to see if I was ready to do some questing.

you have at many occasions mentioned activities and or names or description that clearly points to one person.

now i would point them out, but since im at work I dont have much time and I dont have internet at home because im too mad to fix it... roomates have turned the living room around during the night and couldnt plug anything back in, (or cable doesnt get to router) so im too stubborn to do it for them when they cant even bother to ask my opinion. So will be online at some point.

I'm not saying I've not given enough information out for people to identify me.

But that's not the same thing as readily identifiable names. Although I admit a first name isn't that easy to work with...

Have you considered hitting the room mates with a clue-by-four?
